Sandwich osteotomy of the atrophic posterior mandible prior to implant placement
نویسندگان
چکیده
Key Clinical Message The continuing resorption of the alveolar ridge will eventually result in insufficient bone height superior to the IAN, making dental implant placement impossible. The augmentation procedure above the IAN in terms of height provides sufficient bone for implant placement and allows long-term successful restoration of missing teeth with implant-supported prosthesis.

Segmental sandwich osteotomy of the posterior mandible in pre-implant surgery - A systematic review
BACKGROUND The rehabilitation of the atrophic posterior mandible with dental implants often requires bone augmentation procedures. The aim of the present study is the systematic review of the literature concerning the success rate of Segmental Sandwich Osteotomy (SSO) of the posterior mandible in pre-implant surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS Systematic review of all clinical cases and clinical st...

BACKGROUND A three-dimensionally favourable mandibular bone crest is desirable to be able to successfully implant placement to meet the aesthetic and functional criteria in the implant-prosthetic rehabilitation. Several surgical procedures have been advocated for bone augmentation of the atrophic mandible, and the sandwich osteotomy is one of these techniques. The aim of the present case report...
متن کاملSandwich osteotomy for vertical and transversal augmentation of the posterior mandible.
The aim of this study is to describe the treatment outcome after alveolar ridge augmentation in the atrophic posterior mandible by segmental sandwich osteotomy combined with an interpositional autograft prior to placement of endosseous implants. Thirteen consecutive patients (five males, mean age 48 years, and eight females, mean age 61 years) were included in this study. The postoperative cour...

Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the outcome of short implants (<8 mm length) as an alternative to sinus lift surgery and placement of standard-length implants (10-12 mm length) for rehabilitation of atrophic posterior maxilla. Materials and Methods: In this prospective clinical trial, 26 patients with 6-7 mm of residual alveolar bone height in their atrophic posterior ...
